Green and blue bonds: a closer look
For more than a decade now, the debt market has seen the emergence of new kinds of financial products: sustainability-linked bonds (SLB's), which subsume green bonds, and more recently blue bonds. On the surface, both seems to commit capital to solve climate change related challenges. But how are those bonds concretely greener than others? Can we measure their environmental impact? And how are they helping to shift towards the so-called ESG—environmental, social, and governance—financing?
